Author's real name for blog posts

Some of my Drupal Lite users have requested the ability to use a real name when displaying blog posts, rather than the username. I know that I can modify individual sites (by adding a "name" field to blog posts or the user profiles & then modifying the news views) but I think that this would be a good option to add system-wide.
It currently looks like this:

But we'd like to be able to use "Jane" or "Jane Smith" instead of displaying the username.
